Serena to miss three events due to foot injury

07/17/2010 - St. Petersburg, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Serena Williams is scheduled to undergo surgery in the near future after cutting her foot on broken glass in a restaurant.

The injury will cause the No. 1 ranked player in the world to miss events in Istanbul, Cincinnati, and Montreal, the latter of which is scheduled to commence two weeks before the U.S. Open.

"I'm so upset I won't be able to play in the upcoming events because of this foot surgery," Williams said. "I can't wait to get back on the courts."

Williams won her 13th Grand Slam and fourth Wimbledon title earlier this month.

The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons.  Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4.  Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1).  The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this.  No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.
